When I was young I believed that the world was this magical place where everything was possible. But after high school there was not much left of that dream. I was going through the system and had my share of disappointments. That continued when I went to college and got my first job and was learning how it worked ‘in the real world’. That’s how I got sidetracked and believed that by myself I could never make an impact on the world.

I know a lot of you can relate to that and it can be really frustrating to see your dream go up in smoke like that. And the worse thing about this is that we stopped believing in ourselves. We stopped believing that everything is possible and that we are the creators of our Universe. That ‘s what is hurting me the most when I see kids growing up. They lose their belief in a magical world.

But that hurt also gives me something. It lights up the fire inside of my heart, and makes me want to make a difference in the world of education and raising the new generation. I want everyone to believe in miracles and in themselves again. That is my Mission Statement. So I’m coaching people back to their original mission, when they believed everything was possible. I point them to their talents and show them how those talents can make an impact on the world. I encourage young people (and older) to develop their strengths and show them that it is possible to change the world, one person at a time.

Your Soul’s mission

We all came to this earth with a personal soul mission. To bring Love to the world and to make the world a better place. We have been given all the talents and qualities that we need to that too. And that’s how we started this journey called life.

Your mission might be to provide a safe environment for the animals on this planet. Your mission might be to bring light and love back into the political system, or to change the school system so that they teach the children more to rely on their talents and strengths. Your mission might be just to live a life where you can spread joy to the world. Or like me to let all people believe in miracles again.

But along the way we started to forget our mission and that we are unique and valuable to the world. We started to act as sheep, following the shepherd without knowing where to go or how to choose for ourselves. Your soul has been trying to get back in touch with you, but most of us are not listening. Until something in our lives happens and we start to think about Who we are and Why we are here. That’s when we start to read up on our soul missions and start to reconnect with the values that are truly important to us. And step by step we are becoming more and more our original selves again. That’s what I hope that will happen to everyone on this planet soon, rather than later. But I have a deep faith that eventually all people will start to walk this path. I am sure glad that you are on it. Welcome to the discovery of your personal soul mission. I am honored to be your guide on this journey.

How small the world can be

Imagine your neighborhood when you were growing up. The streets you grew up in, the bushes you were playing hide-and-seek in and the color of your front door. Now see yourself playing freely in that ‘world’ that you know. Innocent and happy, not a care in the world, doing what you love most.

That’s what it looks like to be authentically you. Doing what you love.

Now see the surroundings and the people in it. Who made it possible for you to play so freely? Was there a neighbor that always kept an eye out for your safety. Was there a grandma that was giving you candy at the end of your day and asking how your day was. And what about your parents. Didn’t they do a good job moving to this place and setting up a home in that neighborhood. Now think about your teachers and the parents that were helping out at school. They were all taking care of your ‘world’, making it a better place or safer place for you.

Do you see how small the contribution can be to making an impact on ‘the world’?

Now look at the world around you, your direct environment. In what way could you or are you making a difference already. And what impact do you wish to make?

Make an impact on the world

To make an impact on the world we are living in now, we all have a small piece of that world we can impact with our soul mission. We don’t need to take on the whole world at once, there are different parts that we can focus our attention on. What specific part of this planet do you wish to impact?

Is that the nature, and that we take better care of our forests?

Is your focus the animal kingdom, and what animals in specific?

Is your focus to improve the school system?

Or do you focus on eliminating a certain disease?

Or is society getting too much individualistic, and you want to make a change in that?

There must be something that popped into your mind right now and that makes your heart beat faster. If there was one thing that you could change in the world, what would that be?

That question should bring you on the path of your mission.

Now making an impact on that area of life must be your focus if you would like to make an impact on it. Otherwise you’ll just be giving away too much of your energy to other parts of the world that need to change. And you are left with nothing. So focus just on the part that speaks from your heart and trust that there are other souls like you, taking care of the rest of the world.

That’s how you can make an impact. Focus and decide on what you wish to change.

What can you do to change the world?

Mahatma Ghandi was right. If you want to change the world, start with yourself.

The world you wish to create or the part you wish to improve, what does that look like. And who are you in that situation? Are you an advocate for a clean environment and healthy food choices, start with your own life and be an example to other. Are you here to improve self-awareness, show others how to live more self-aware by leading by example. Are you here to guard over the ones that can’t take care of themselves, volunteer in projects that have the same purpose.

It all starts with the actions you take in your life. No matter how big or small. All your actions count.

A Buddhist phrase says: If you think the power of 1 is no power at all, try sleeping in a room with only 1 mosquito.

That’s what you have to remember when you think what you’re doing is not making any difference. Because all the small steps you take that are in alignment with your mission are adding up to a big result, even if you can’t see it yet. If you just change the life of one tree, one animal or one person, you have completed your mission. And from that point forward the number can only grow.

Only one person can change an entire nation

To inspire you to start to take action on your mission and change the world one step at a time let me tell you about the people in history that made an impact on the world by standing for what they believed in.

  1. Mahatma Ghandi. He single handedly changed an entire nation, with his vision. He started to influence the masses by sharing his vision and standing by them in times of need.
  2. Mother Theresa. She knew that the road she chose was not an easy one, but she persisted and is now known all over the world, helping 1000’s of people live in health and safety.
  3. Oprah Winfrey. She believed that she needed to be the voice of 1000’s Afro-Americans showing that it was possible to be on TV and have their voice be heard. She brought equality and liberty for an entire nation.

If you have something you strongly believe in and you know that the world needs. Start taking action and see where that road is going to take you. I am sure that these 3 people I mentioned were helped by their spirit guides and that all of them had a very strong faith in what they believed in.

So when life is getting tough make sure you have something to fall back on too. A faith, a spiritual practice or a religion. That makes us grow as a person and makes us see the bigger picture. We are all on this planet to fulfill a role in a bigger change in history. All we need to do is play our part.

  1. Like yourself when I was young, making an impact on the world was also my goal. But then the realities of the adult world kicked in, along came the husband, kids, and expense. So my impact wasn’t what I thought it would be.

But then as I got older, I realized I did make an impact on the client I worked with. these are people who needed to make a change, and was a part of the process

    • Hi Jagi,
As a mother and a grown up you can even make a bigger impact, as you have so much experience and wisdom to share with the world. Don’t write yourself out of the game just yet. You are so needed. So keep evolving and stay open to wherever in life you can make a difference. Love, Nanda

  3. I love that you get my mind thinking of how others impacted my life positively as I was growing up. We forget just how much we can have an impact on others around us once we’re grown up. It’s a good reminder that one person can make a difference. Also to think of what can we do in this moment to help change the world around us and be the change we want to see in this world. Thanks for sharing your insights.

    • Hi Kat,

  4. I absolutely am in love with your site! I have heard of this idea before, that you are born with a mission. A mission you chose and planned out before even making your debut on the earth. But that you did not remember right away. I still am not sure what mine is. I have always had a huge heart for people and children. I recently had a daughter and it is the most surreal and natural thing ever. I am going to be a surrogate for a couple next year, and I am doing my best to prevent so much waste on our earth. Perhaps these small things are my souls mission. I know I will find out soon, but for now I am doing what feels right. Thank you for this inspirational post.

  5. I am beyond touched by this post. I don’t often talk to strangers about topics as deep as this, but I can literally feel a connection through this article. Just this past week I knew I needed to dramatically shift the direction of my life. I normally connect spiritually to people through my painting, but there isn’t enough time to contact as many people as I want to. So this week, I enrolled in a program to become a health & life coach, and feel that that connects more with my soul’s purpose. Love Love this article.

    • I am moved to tears feeling this deep connection with some of my readers. I feel so blessed to be given this guidance to start this website. I hope it will serve many more like you. It’s so great Kendra that you have felt the inspiration to move into the direction of your soul’s purpose. you will be great. Just remember, all you need to do to serve the world is BE YOU.
